Wrapping up 2024

We’ve been busy with a variety of things over the November-December season, though few make clean public blog posts or releases.

  • Software improvements and maintenance
    • Squiggle: Published Squiggle v0.10
    • SquiggleHub: Replaced GraphQL with React Server Components. This means that pages load faster and developer velocity should be higher.
    • SquiggleAI: Stability and reliability improvements
  • Consulting work for grantmakers
  • Grant applications
  • Visiting Washington DC and chatting with people in forecasting and AI policy
  • Presentations and workshops at various events, like an AI Demo Day or Minifest
  • Keeping up-to-date with all the latest AI improvements, figuring out what's relevant for our work
  • Discussions about future projects and collaborations

I personally took some time off around Thanksgiving and Christmas. My health had dipped a bit earlier in the year when I was focused on Squiggle AI, so I've recently been dedicating attention to improving it.

If you're not familiar, you might find my personal Facebook blog interesting - I write about general QURI topics, AI risk, effective altruism, life hacking, and various intellectual interests. I tend to be more active there when I'm less focused on programming at QURI.

These past months have gone by quickly, but I'm excited for 2025. Several of the above initiatives are wrapping up, and we're looking forward to promising new QURI projects and efforts.

By the way, QURI is actively seeking donations. If you're interested, click here for more information, or feel free to reach out to me directly.

Best,
Ozzie
